Imagine Sailing
The vision. The plan.

"Who wants to go sailing?"

This was one of the questions we started asking in 2017 when we began planning for our 60th anniversary (2019).

During the first year of the planning, we developed partnerships with Scouts Canada and Girl Guides of Canada (577 kids registered for the pilot program in 2018).

Next we asked the Military Community if they wanted to go sailing... Registration for our Warrior Sailing Basic Training Camp in 2019 is at 200% of capacity.

We're engaging with great partners:

  • Sport Calgary member
  • KidSport Calgary - Community Sport Partner
  • Duke of Edinburgh Award
  • Calgary Public Library (we have a sailboat in the Shawnessy Library in July and August / and four programming sessions at various libraries in the city)
  • Several lake communities - sailing demonstrations and free sailing events

Club members are invested in the direction and objectives of Imagine Sailing. During June 2018, the internal fundraising campaign raised almost $40,000 to purchase boats to support the new and expanded programs.

"Who wants to go sailing?"

We learned many people do.
