Welcome to Calgary's sailing community.

The Start Keelboat Sailing course develops fundamental keelboat sailing skills in moderate daytime conditions. Manoeuvring under power is not part of this course as outboard motors can not be used on a sailboat on the Glenmore Reservoir.

This 15 hour course is taught through:

  • 2 hours online with your instructor
  • 13 hours over two days at the reservoir

This course uses the Club's SanJuan 21 keelboats.

Covid-safe teaching practices and plans.

When registering for this course, you can purchase at a discount the recently revised edition of the Basic Cruising Skills book. Illustrated. 208 pages covering all the skills and language of the rigging and safe operation a sailboat.
