Sailing Coach and Sailing Instructors

The Glenmore Sailing Club has multiple openings for experienced Sailing Coaches and Instructors.

Far beyond teaching people fundamentals and advanced sailing skills, these roles are about instilling the love and joy of sailing in all the students and advanced sailors.

The range of coaching and instruction includes:

  • Youth Race Team coaching
  • Youth Summer Sailing Camps instruction teaching through a variety of CANSail levels
  • Introducing Scouting youth to sailing through our partnership with Scouts Canada
  • Coaching Collegiate Sailors from our partnering post-secondary collegiate sailing programs,
  • Adult Learn to Sail lesson instruction (keelboat and dinghy) 
  • Adult Coaching of club members 
  • Warrior Sailor coaching and instruction (hopefully towards participation in the Invictus Games).

Coaching candidates will possess:

  • CanSail Wetfeet and Levels 1-6 instructor certification;
  • Opti race coaching experience and knowledge of the Racing Rules of Sailing;
  • Laser/other race coaching experience is considered an asset;
  • Strong leadership, organizational and communication skills;
  • Police Check and Vulnerable Sector Screening;

Current Sail Canada registration including:

  • Current Emergency First Aid and CPR
  • Current Boat Rescue
  • Current Pleasure Craft Operator Card
  • Current Coach Boat Safety
  • Current National Coaching Certification Program (NCCP) modules
  • Learning Facilitator certification is considered an asset; and
  • Sail Canada Program Manager course completion is also considered an asset.

Coaches will also coach the sailing race team at local and out of town regattas.

Instructor candidates will possess:

  • CanSail Wetfeet, Level 1/2 instructor certification;
  • Police Check and Vulnerable Sector Screening; and
  • Current Sail Canada registration as per above.

Instructors are instrumental in the delivery of the youth sailing instruction through the Youth Summer Camps.
