Regattas -- 2009 calendar details updated
Driftwood Regatta, June
This is GSC's contribution to the June Series, and our first big open-to-all regatta of the year. A two-day class racing event. Great early spring racing to tune up for other upcoming big regattas. Lunch and continental breakfasts are part of the event.
Midsummer Regatta, July
An afternoon class racing event. The Sicks Trophy goes to the overall winner (most firsts in any class) and the Ancient Mariner is awarded to the best Laser sailor over 40! Come compete for some of the hardware available at this regatta. Burger lunch is supplied.
Pierce Regatta, August
The Pierce Regatta is a relaxed afternoon of racing: 4 races, no throw-out, mass-start, handicap fleet. This is a good regatta to "learn the ropes," introduce new crew, or bring the kids! The Pierce Trophy will be awarded to the overall regatta winner and the Logan Bowl is up for the boat with the fastest cumulative uncorrected time. The Viking Cup is awarded to the most improved novice sailor. The Duuk Van Heel Trophy is awarded to the best junior sailor.
Fun Regatta, September
Join us for Team Racing! We'll race as many short races as possible - maximum of 20 minutes each. Typical courses are windward - leeward. We will balance the teams in the morning before the racing depending on which of the hotshots come out for the day. The key to winning is a good average position for the members of your team.
Frostbite Regatta, September
The Frostbite Regatta is an Open Regatta held at and organized by the Glenmore Sailing Club in Calgary.
